Utopia Theme FAQ

1. Installation & Setup

Q. What should I do first after installing Utopia?

After installing and activating Utopia, go to Utopia → Setup Wizard first. The Setup Wizard lets you complete basic configuration in a few steps: site type (blog, corporate, media, etc.), brand colors, and layout preferences. Once done, use Utopia → Dashboard to access individual settings and fine-tune as needed. For existing WordPress sites, we recommend running the Setup Wizard to set your basic direction, then customizing Design, Header, Footer, and other options individually.

Q. Where do I enter my license key?

Enter your license key on the Utopia → License page. Use the key from your purchase confirmation email (format: PER-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX or DEV-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX), then click “Activate License.” Once activated, you’ll receive update notifications and can access support. If you need separate keys for production and development, consider using a developer (DEV-) license.

2. Design & Customization

Q. Can I change colors and fonts?

Yes. In Utopia → Design Settings, you can change primary color, secondary color, text color, button radius, heading styles, button styles, body font, and heading font. You can pick from color palettes or enter custom hex values. Enabling dark mode applies a dark theme based on the user’s system preference. Changes can be previewed in real time, so you can experiment until the design matches your vision.

Q. Can I change the header and footer layout?

Yes. Utopia → Header Settings lets you configure the header CTA button (text, URL, alignment), menu position, header image height, announcement bar, search label, sticky header, and back-to-top button. Utopia → Footer Settings controls copyright, footer CTA, footer menu, and social icon placement and colors. Multiple widget areas are available, so you can build layouts with blocks and widgets as needed.

3. Contact Form

Q. How do I use the contact form?

Utopia includes a built-in contact form. Create and edit multiple forms under Utopia → Contact Form, and configure fields (name, email, subject, message, etc.) with drag-and-drop. To display a form, add the shortcode

to a page or post, or insert the “Contact Form” block in the block editor. Changing the form ID lets you use different forms for different purposes (general inquiry, support, quote request, etc.) on the same site.

Q. I’m not receiving emails. What should I do?

WordPress’s default mail function (PHP mail()) often fails on local environments and some shared hosts. We strongly recommend installing the WP Mail SMTP plugin and configuring it to send via Gmail, SendGrid, or your host’s SMTP. Utopia’s Contact Form settings page includes a link and instructions for installing WP Mail SMTP. After setup, send a test email to verify delivery. Also check that the recipient address is correct and that messages aren’t being filtered into spam.

Q. Can I use spam protection (reCAPTCHA)?

Yes. In Utopia → Contact Form, use the “Google reCAPTCHA v3” section at the bottom of the list page to enter your Site Key and Secret Key. Enable “Enable Google reCAPTCHA v3” in each form’s edit screen to protect that form. reCAPTCHA v3 runs in the background without user interaction, so it reduces spam without affecting usability. Get your keys from Google reCAPTCHA Admin and select reCAPTCHA v3.

4. Blocks & Content

Q. What blocks does Utopia include?

Utopia includes custom blocks such as Notice, Box, Button, Affiliate Button, CTA Button, Contact Form, and Accordion (FAQ). Add them from the “Utopia” category in the block editor. Buttons and CTA buttons support color, size, alignment, and shape options; the Accordion is useful for FAQs and collapsible content. These blocks follow the theme’s design settings for consistent styling.

Q. Can I show a table of contents (TOC) or related posts?

Yes. In Utopia → Content Settings, you can enable and configure the table of contents (title, minimum headings, collapsible), related posts (title, count), author box, and share buttons. The TOC automatically extracts headings (h2, h3, h4) from the post and scrolls to the section when clicked. Related posts are pulled from the same category or tag to improve navigation.

5. Performance & SEO

Q. Are there performance optimization settings?

Utopia → Performance offers options such as removing unnecessary meta tags (generator, RSD, shortlink, REST API link, prev/next, feed links, powered by), disabling emojis and jQuery Migrate, removing version queries, disabling Gutenberg on the front end, font preconnect, HTML compression, and Heartbeat tuning. Enabling only what you need can improve load times. Always back up before changing settings and test carefully in production.

Q. Where do I configure SEO settings?

Utopia → SEO Settings lets you set the OGP default image, Twitter ID, Facebook App ID, Google and Bing verification codes, and meta descriptions. The OGP image is used as the thumbnail when content is shared on social networks. Individual posts and pages may support per-page meta descriptions and display controls in the editor sidebar. The theme covers basic SEO; for more advanced control, consider using a plugin like All in One SEO or Yoast SEO alongside Utopia.

6. Maintenance & Support

Q. Can I use maintenance mode?

Yes. Utopia → Maintenance Mode lets you enable maintenance mode and set the title, message, end date, background color, and text color. When enabled, visitors who are not logged in see the maintenance screen, while administrators can access the site as usual. Useful when you need to hide the site temporarily during updates or redesigns.

Q. How do I update Utopia?

With an active license, Utopia updates appear under Dashboard → Updates. Click to apply the update. We recommend backing up before updating. Export theme settings from Utopia → Export / Backup and back up the theme folder via FTP or a file manager. If you use a child theme, ensure child theme files are not overwritten.

Q. How can I get support?

Purchasers with an active license can access support via our forum or email. Check your purchase confirmation email or the sales site’s support page for the support URL and contact details. When reporting issues or requesting features, please include your WordPress version, Utopia version, steps to reproduce, and any error messages for faster assistance.

7. Miscellaneous

Q. Do I need a child theme?

We strongly recommend using a child theme if you add custom CSS or modify PHP. A child theme keeps your customizations intact when the theme is updated. Utopia allows many changes from the admin, so minor color or text tweaks may not require a child theme. However, if you edit functions.php or template files directly, always do so in a child theme.

Q. Can I use Utopia on multiple sites?

It depends on your license type. A standard license (PER-) is for one site. For multiple sites, consider a developer license (DEV-) or a license that covers the number of sites you need. See the sales site’s license terms for details.

Q. Are there features for affiliate sites?

Yes. Utopia → Affiliate lets you enable and customize the PR label, disclosure text, auto nofollow/sponsored, and auto blog card conversion. The Affiliate Button block helps you prominently place links to products or services. In Ads settings, you can define areas for ad code before/after content and in the sidebar. Together, these features make it easier to build an affiliate-friendly site.
