Ever been writing a post and wished you could drop in a callout box, a numbered set of steps, or a little speech-bubble comparison without fiddling with custom HTML?
That kind of formatting is usually the selling point of a handful of Japanese “all-in-one” themes that ship their own content blocks. If you switch away from one of those themes, the blocks usually don’t come with you.
Utopia ships with its own set of writing blocks too, built right into the block editor. No extra plugin required — they’re just sitting in the block inserter, ready to use.
An “UTOPIA Blocks” section in the inserter
Open a new post and click the “+” button (the block inserter) in the top-left corner. Alongside the standard paragraph and heading blocks, you’ll see a dedicated section called “UTOPIA Blocks.”
It contains eleven blocks: Notice / Alert, Affiliate Button, Button, CTA Button, Contact Form, Accordion / FAQ, Speech Balloon, Styled Border Box, Step, Point Box, and Float Image. Think of Design Settings as the tool for styling the whole site, and these blocks as the tool for shaping the content inside each post.
Notice / Alert covers four states out of the box
The block you’ll likely reach for most is Notice / Alert. Its own description in the inserter sums it up well: it displays an info, success, warning, or danger notice box.
Pick a type from the settings panel and the box is color-coded accordingly, and there’s an optional title field if you want to label it “Note” or “Heads up.” For a review post where you want readers to catch one specific point, or a setup guide where a wrong click causes trouble, that visual break does more than another paragraph of text ever could.
Steps, callouts, and speech bubbles for how-to content
Writing a step-by-step guide? The Step block lays out numbered steps that pair naturally with screenshots of a settings screen. Point Box is built for pulling out a single takeaway, Styled Border Box wraps a chunk of content in a bordered panel, and Speech Balloon lets you present pros and cons as a back-and-forth conversation. Float Image handles the classic layout of wrapping text around an image.
Buttons, CTAs, FAQs, and a contact form are all in there too
Beyond the writing blocks, there are three flavors of buttons — Affiliate Button for outbound links, a plain Button, and CTA Button for calls to action — plus an Accordion / FAQ block for grouping common questions and a Contact Form block for taking inquiries directly from a post. All of it is built into the theme, so there’s no need to shop around for a separate plugin for each one.
Just type “/” to pull one up
Every block works exactly like a normal WordPress block. Type “/” in the editor, start typing part of the block’s name — “Step” or “Notice,” for example — and it’ll show up in the list. You can also add these blocks to posts you’ve already published, so there’s no need to plan ahead; try dropping a Notice / Alert into an existing article to see how it reads.

Installing a separate plugin just for a handful of styled boxes adds one more thing to keep updated, and can add weight to page load times. Because Utopia builds the blocks writers reach for most into the theme itself, you get that formatting without adding a plugin.
